We invite you to the AI Meet-Up Summer Edition. An easy and fun way to get in touch with the artificial intelligence community and the ecosystem of the AI Innovation Center!
Join us for an engaging talk on “Generative AI: The key concepts, Developments and Challenges” by Jakub M. Tomczak, an associate professor at Eindhoven University of Technology. Delve into the exciting world of Generative AI as we explore its fundamental concepts and discuss the remarkable developments in this field. During this talk, we will introduce the key components of generative modeling, and present a few success stories and developments of Generative AI. We will conclude by pointing out potential challenges and open questions that could drive research and development of this captivating AI paradigm.

Jakub M. Tomczak | Associate professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)
Before joining the TU/e, he was an assistant professor of Artificial Intelligence at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Formerly, he was a deep learning researcher (Engineer, Staff) in Qualcomm AI Research in Amsterdam, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie individual fellow in Prof. Max Welling’s group at the University of Amsterdam, and an assistant professor and a postdoc at the Wroclaw University of Technology. His main research interests include deep generative modeling, deep learning, and Bayesian inference, with applications to image processing, life sciences & chemistry, and medicine. He is the author of the book entitled “Deep Generative Modeling”. He has broad experience in consulting companies in logistics, banking, computer vision, and life sciences. He has over 12 years of experience working in academia and over 3 years working in and for the industry.
