This talk will provide an introduction to MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) as well as discuss various topics in Artificial Intelligence (AI) that is, or will, impact most industry sectors. CSAIL is a research lab but also MIT’s most prolific creator of start-ups. This talk will provide an introduction to work at the lab on various applications of AI from image recognition to robotics, generative AI, AI ethics and guardrails, adversarial AI, and challenges that persist with the technology such as explainability, bias, and sustainability. Additionally, the talk will address the impact advances in AI are likely to have on employment and some of the societal issues the technology poses with deep fakes and computer security.
